The Home is situated just off Swains Road, at the end of a short drive. This is a pleasant and quiet part of Bembridge, within easy walking distance of the shops, Post Office, beach and other amenities. It is conveniently situated for visitors using public transport and has a car park for those who visit by car. The passenger ferry terminal from Portsmouth is only a short distance of 7 miles away in Ryde, whilst the car ferry terminal at Fishbourne is approximately 10 miles away.

The Elms benefits from its own grounds which have recently been extensively landscaped, including a fountain with easy wheelchair access. In the summer many residents sit and enjoy the sunshine in peace and tranquility. When the weather is not so good the conservatory is a pleasant place to sit and relax.

The Elms offers its clients a warm and friendly home in an "extended family setting". Independence is encouraged and help is available whenever required.  Everyone has the freedom of choice to go to bed and get up when they wish, also to choose what they would like to eat and do, on a daily basis.  The care provided depends on the individual needs and requirements of each person.

The Elms provides 24 hour Nursing Care for 48 people in single rooms, all of which have en suite facilities, either with baths or showers. Four specialist baths are available for those who can no longer manage to use a conventional one as well as a walk in/wheel in shower. A variety of specialist hoists are available to be used by our trained staff. All rooms have a Nurse Call System facility.

At the Elms Nursing Home there are 17 assisted living cottages situated in the grounds. The concept of assisted living allows residents to live independently in their own home whilst knowing that the Nursing Home is only a short distance away. Cottages may be purchased by an individual or a couple on a long-term lease arrangement and residents must be over the age of 55.

Accommodation is, in the most part, arranged on ground floor level within safe and secure surroundings. It comprises of one double bedroom, bathroom, entrance hallway, sitting/dining room and a modern kitchen. Most also have patio doors opening onto the grounds. There is a fully equipped communal laundry room. Each cottage is also fitted with nurse call bell systems which are linked directly to the Nursing Home, where help is at hand day or night if there is a problem.

A monthly service charge covers property insurance (not contents), garden and exterior maintenance, window cleaning along with use of the minibus for shopping trips to the village of Bembridge and Tesco's. Assisted living cottages allow residents to continue the normal activities of daily life, with reassurance of security and peace of mind in a pleasant and relaxing environment. Our adjoining Nursing Home offers assurance and support which can typically include meals, a weekly on-site Doctor's surgery, hairdresser and chiropodist (nominal charges applicable).
