The Team

We provide 24 hour RN care and all qualified nurses at Springfield are registered with the NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council) and thereby have responsibilities and are accountable to maintain standards as set down by the NMC. They also fulfil their PREP requirements to update their knowledge and clinical skills as stipulated by the NMC, and participate in training provided by our own in-house training team, training provided by outside agencies and recognised courses etc., enabling them to meet their commitment to the care of our patients.

All members of staff undertake a comprehensive programme of induction training, including the Common Induction Standard, which then extends to an individual plan for job specific training, meeting minimum National Training Organisation Standards, commensurate with their responsibilities and abilities.

The Matron–Manager is Mrs Liz Pearson who is responsible for all nursing and day-to-day management matters. Any administrative issues are dealt with by the Administrator, Glenda Reed. Either of them will be pleased to answer any questions you may have regarding the Home.

Nursing Auxiliaries and other members of staff also partake in training courses on various subjects and issues on a continual rolling basis, and many have obtained NVQ Levels II and III in Care and are continually striving to provide a high standard of care in our Home. Listed is a selection of the subjects covered including all statutory requirements: - Principles of Care, Moving & Handling, Basic First Aid, Food Hygiene, Health & Safety, Fire Safety, Incontinence Management to name but a few.

We also carry out our own in-house training, following a plan written by our Training Manager. As training is an ongoing programme, some of the nursing auxiliaries will be incorporating supervised training whilst performing their normal duties, as that is part of the assessment process for NVQ qualification. Staff will always ask your permission before doing so.

Our Catering Manager and Chefs run the kitchen and are responsible for all food and drink preparation.  They prepare the menus and ensure that your meals are served to your individual needs and requirements i.e. religious, medical, physical or cultural grounds.

Our Catering Assistants help with the preparation of ingredients and general cleaning of the kitchen area.

Our Housekeeper, oversees and supervises the Laundry and Domestic teams and ensures that the Home is thoroughly cleaned and kept tidy for your comfort.

The domestic team will clean your bedroom and the rest of the Home to help maintain a pleasant environment for your stay.

The laundry staff will collect, launder and return your clothing and bed linen to your room. They may also carry out minor repairs.

The Elms is a large building and requires ongoing maintenance and decoration to keep it running smoothly.  Our maintenance team, carry out repairs – anything form replacing light bulbs to refitting a bathroom suite as well as decorating both inside and outside the Home.

The gardens around the Home also keep them busy throughout the year. They mow the lawns and keep the gardens tidy, ensuring a pleasant place for you to walk or sit in.

They also drive and look after the Home’s Minibus, used for outings and hospital visits.
